Steve has 20 years of experience as an editor and reporter for print and online publications, including 10 as an editor in various capacities at The Washington Post’s award-winning Web site. Prior to joining The Post, he was a sportswriter and editor at different publications for about 10 years, including serving as the national college basketball writer for United Press International. Julie Varney is a senior journalism student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is currently a staff member on the weekly news program “UMass This Week” at the student-run cable TV station UVC-TV 19. She was also a contributor to MassLive.com in a partnership with the UMass journalism program and recently served as the New Media Intern in Gov. Deval Patrick’s Press Office. She has worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the NECC Observer, the award-winning student-run newspaper at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Mass., and as a staff reporter at The Haverhill Gazette.
Matt McCarron is a senior journalism major with a concentration in film studies. Matt is also the Managing Editor Germanautonews.com, his own website dedicated to the coverage of high-end German automobiles and a staff member on the weekly news program “UMass This Week” at the student-run cable TV station UVC-TV 19.
Rachel Roberts is a senior environmental design and journalism student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is currently a contributor on Boston.com’s ‘After the Storm’ blog dedicated to chronicling the rebuilding efforts of communities devasted by the June 1 tornado. She has previously worked as an editorial intern for MassLive.com.
