Tailgate photos: New rules, same UMass

September 23, 2018

Under a new set of tailgating rules, University of Massachusetts Amherst students found themselves still able to enjoy the first tailgate of the season before UMass football kicked off against the University of North Carolina Charlotte at McGuirk Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

As a result of the policy changes, attendees were not allowed to play amplified private music. Instead, UMass provided a DJ. Tailgaters were also no longer allowed to stand in the beds of trucks — a popular tradition for student tailgates.

The new rules made by the university didn’t stop students from showing up to the Student Village parking lot to drink, dance and support the Minutemen.

After the tailgate, UMass went on to win their game against Charlotte with a score of 49 to 31. The Minutemen’s next home game will be against the University of South Florida on Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m.
