AMHERST — The town will pave a large stretch of East Pleasant Street near the University of Massachusetts and northbound from campus on Monday, according to the UMass Amherst News Office.

A portion of East Pleasant Street from Pine Street to Eastman Lane, near Northeast Residential Area, will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closed portion does not include the area that passes Orchard Hill Residential Area.

All local traffic traveling south should exit East Pleasant Street via Pine Street and return via Eastman Lane, officials say. The road will be reduced to one northbound travel lane during construction. Detail officers will direct traffic at the construction site.

Some driveways and side streets may also be blocked while construction equipment passes by. Anyone affected by this should check with passing construction workers before exiting the street or driveway.
