Morbius: A Complex Character
Will this anti-hero be the one needed to shake things up? Will he get to cross into the MCU? If so, Spider-Man might be in trouble.
Why a vampire doctor? Why is he relevant, and what does his introduction to the superhero world mean going forward? These are some of the questions I have following the Morbius movie, and who knows if they’ll get answered. I enjoyed it, although the action scenes could have been better, and the plot wasn’t as entertaining as I originally figured. Considering the amount of vampire movies out there, I thought this one would do something different to make itself stand out. Did it? Yes and no, where the anti-hero has to fight his best friend and protect those he cares for, as well as stop a homicidal maniac from destroying the city. Been there, seen that, but the backstory is compelling in that I haven’t seen a story where someone with a rare blood disorder goes to such lengths to cure said disorder, and the fallout that ensues is standard good vs. evil fare. The addition of Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming was a nice touch, hopefully he is actually utilized in future films. The idea of a team-up between these two and others is intriguing, as Spider-Man: No Way Home brought together villains from different universes to gang-up on Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Could this be the creation of a proper Sinister Six? Only time will tell, but I’m interested to see what happens.
