Last year UMass took 22 players from the transfer portal and many more from years past. Often, transfers can have a big impact on a new roster. For example, Taisun Phommachanh, Kay’ron Lynch-Adams, Anthony Simpson and Juan Lua were all transfers who had big impacts on the Minutemen last season.
UMass has also seen the transfer portal have negative effects on their past rosters including last year when starting cornerback Josh Wallace transferred to Michigan.
