Introspective Ramblings: “Silt”
Editor’s Note: Introspective Ramblings is Amherst Wire’s poetry column, dedicated to showcasing student’s creative work.
Silt
Don’t walk too loud, the voices say.
Keep your eyes to the ground, they mockingly play.
Suck in your waist – your belt on its last notch.
Take up less space, says no one, yet you are.
Try not to exist.
Move through life like a ghost through walls.
What is your impact to those around you?
How long will it take for the dirt to shift,
and for your footprints left behind to dissolve
into The Earth?
