Introspective Ramblings: “Invisible”
Editor’s Note: Introspective Ramblings is Amherst Wire’s poetry column, dedicated to showcasing student’s creative work through a mixture of audio and visual components.
Invisible
Remaining in solitude tryna get by
Thinking about how hard I try
Loneliness creeps up like a monster
Coming after me like a SWAT team
I walk through my struggles alone
Cuz I don’t know who I can call on the phone
Friendly? Hell yeah that’s me
Do I have peeps I can count on? We’ll see
I’d say my power is invisibility
To be unnoticeable is my speciality
The connects I make don’t usually last long
People come & go, I tend to move on
Maybe one day I’ll feel accepted, like I belong
The hope that walking alone isn’t my swan song
So now you see a part of me I don’t show often
The part of me covered with a smile that can soften
To truly be part of a community is my wish
A connection that gives me a sense of ish
